Abstract

For some years, the software engineering community has been working to identify practices aimed at emerging more secure software. Although some initial work has been done, efforts to measure software security statement have yet to develop in any substantive fashion. As a result development program and project managers lack poise in the security features of their software-reliant systems. This project is to advance the state-of-the-practice in software security measurement and analysis. This project is exploring how to use risk analysis to direct a society’s software security measurement and analysis efforts. The main objective is to develop a risk based approach for computing and monitoring the security features of interactively complex software-reliant systems across the lifespan and supply chain. To accomplish this goal Mission Risk Analytic (MRA) is developed.
