Abstract

This paper introduces a neural machine translation system designed for Punjabi to Bharati Braille. In response to the lack of an on-the-fly translation tool from Punjabi (Gurmukhi) to Bharati Braille, we crafted a system trained on a 6-lac parallel corpus. The training process included augmenting Punjabi text by translating name entities into Hindi. Comparative analysis against the baseline NMT system demonstrated a notable enhancement, as the syntax augmented NMT system achieved a score of 36.66, significantly outperforming the baseline's 26.34.
