COMPARISON OF SANSKRIT MACHINE TRANSLATION SYSTEMS

Abstract
Objective: This study reports a comparative study of Sanskrit machine translation system developed and various approaches that have been used to develop the system.
Method: We have used Comparative Review method based on paper published in journals, Conferences, workshops and articles.
Results: Existing approaches about Translation is classified broadly into four different categories. The importance of Rule based approach and corpus based approach led to different classifications. Machine Translation systems that have involved Sanskrit language are presented. The phase of machine translation on which the work has been done is reported.
Conclusion: We call for benefits of Sanskrit as language for Translation System, and identify the need to develop Lexical and Morphological analyzer for Sanskrit text using approaches of Machine Translation. Recommendations are given for future research.
