An Efficient Approach for Edge Detection in Gray-Scale Images

Abstract


Edges in a digital image provide important information about the objects contained within the image since they constitute boundaries between objects in the image. This paper proposes a new approach based on both Tsallis and Kapur entropy together. The performance of our method is compared against other methods such as Sobel and Canny edge detector by using various tested images. Experimental results reveal that the proposed method exhibits better performance and may efficiently be used for the detection of edges in images.
