Abstract

This paper proposed a field signals monitoring system with wireless sensor network (WSN) which integrates a System on a Chip platform and Zigbee wireless network technologies to improve the productivity of agriculture. Wireless sensor networks allow deployment of sensing elements close to the phenomena of interest. The system can real-timely monitor agriculture environmental information, such as the temperature, humidity, and light intensity, soil moisture, CO2 etc. This paper discusses the aspect of hardware and software design of the composed modules, network topology, network communication protocol and the present challenges. Experiments show that the node can achieve agricultural environmental information collection and transmission. The system has the feature of compact in frame, light in weight, low power consumption steady in performance and facilitated in operation. It greatly improves the agricultural production efficiency and automatic level drastically. Each such sensor network node has typically several parts: a radio transceiver with an internal antenna we have used single RF transceiver using Zigbee, a 32-bit microcontroller LPC 2148 , an electronic circuit for interfacing with the sensors for agriculture monitoring and an energy source, usually a battery or an embedded form of energy harvesting.
